Barry Zauss started repairing and installing carpet back in 1977 while working for a local carpet store. When that store went out of business in 1979 he found himself unemployed, newly married and with a wife expecting their first child. He walked to every apartment complex in El Cajon offering his carpet repair services since he realized apartments want to repair and not replace. Many business relationships were formed that last to this day. When Barry would go to the door and announce that he was there to repair the carpet, he was often greeted by a child that would yell to his mother “The carpet repairman is here!”. That was the birth of a business and a fitting name to match what has become the first and original carpet repair company of San Diego County. Barry became an expert in carpet repair and installation. He has taught classes on how to repair carpet, traveled the eleven western states installing AMC Theatres, became an award winning contractor for Barona Casino.

I was born and raised in San Diego. Love it here. I take great pride in being able to live and work in America’s Finest City. I love the people and the ease in which I am able to work in this town.
I have always wanted to give customers value. I really work at my profession and am always learning. Yes I can repair carpet with my eyes shut now but I don’t.
I like to see the results that 46 years in the business brings. I like the smile on my customers face when they say “Where did it go?” when they come in to inspect my work. Yes, it’s not always invisible, but that is my goal. That is, in fact, what the customer wants. Isn’t that what you want?
But I digress….I love family, gardening, fishing, BBQ, my man cave tuff shed… and my truck.
